1. 💳 Coinbase Lays Out AiFi: Money Rails for Agents
Coinbase published an X article titled "AiFi: The Financial System for AI," arguing that agents already research, decide, and act, but still hit a financial system built for humans with legal names, billing addresses, and business hours. The company frames AiFi as two tracks: agentic trading and agentic commerce, where agents can monitor markets, manage workflows, compare products, and buy information continuously, then pay, get paid, hold value, and move money inside human-set permissions. Coinbase Advisor is described as an SEC-registered, AI-powered investment adviser inside Coinbase One. Coinbase for Agents connects Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor to a Coinbase account over MCP, with optional sandboxed agent accounts and guardrails. For commerce, Coinbase cites x402, its open machine-to-machine payment standard now under its own foundation, saying x402 has processed more than 205 million transactions and $53 million in volume across 200k sellers, with Coinbase facilitating 67% of that activity. 2. 🔬 Anthropic Opens a Research Preview of Model Hardware Standard
Anthropic opened a research preview of the Model Hardware Standard (MHS), a shared specification so AI agents can safely operate physical devices such as microscopes, liquid handlers, and robotic arms in parallel, from routine drug-discovery work to laser calibration on a quantum computer. MHS began as a collaboration with HHMI Janelia Research Campus, and Anthropic says labs that once spent weeks or months wiring bespoke device integrations can now get to hours or minutes. The MHS driver uses simple read/write primitives, makes devices discoverable across networks, and stores natural-language tags about machine characteristics and safety limits so an agent can operate hardware it has never seen. Agents can control devices through MCP, a command-line interface, or code files that chain driver commands for long-running work without reasoning at every step. 3. 🧱 Lovable Is Turning Apps Into Agent Capabilities
In a Latent Space interview, Lovable CTO Fabian Hedin said the company is expanding beyond AI web-app generation into MCP-powered "capabilities": useful pieces of an application that an agent can call directly without a human opening the UI. A published Lovable app can expose selected functions through a hosted MCP server, so the same product has a human interface and an agent interface usable from ChatGPT, Claude, and other MCP clients. Hedin described the destination as a "digital brain" for a team: one entry point with company context plus general and organization-specific actions, including asynchronous agent work that can resume later. Growth markers cited in the piece include a $500 million annualized revenue run rate, more than 60 million projects, over 900 million monthly visits to Lovable-built apps, and a Menlo-led $400 million Series C valuing the company at $13.3 billion. Security sits on "app user connectors" that keep credentials encrypted server-side and preserve each user's source-system permissions. 4. 🌐 ChatGPT Can Now Use Website Tools via WebMCP
OpenAI announced WebMCP support in the ChatGPT desktop app's built-in browser and ChatGPT Sites, so when ChatGPT or Codex visits a compatible site it can discover and call structured tools instead of clicking through a human UI. WebMCP lets a site publish actions such as search, availability checks, cart updates, bookings, or trial starts, which is faster and more accurate than DOM guessing and gives site owners control plus usage data. The Nekuda write-up frames this as the missing half of the agentic-web stack after Google's Lighthouse agentic browsing checks, Shopify storefront WebMCP tools, and Cloudflare deployment help. 5. 🐦 There's a New Twitter.now, and X Already Sued It
TechCrunch reports that Operation Bluebird, whose founding team includes former Twitter trademark counsel Stephen Coates, is testing a social network called Twitter.now. Early access currently costs $20. X sued last year and sought a Delaware injunction to block a platform named Twitter; Operation Bluebird argued X abandoned marks such as "Twitter" and "Tweet." Coates says the company is not recreating old Twitter, but building a public square around trust, transparency, and user choice, with tools so people, not an opaque algorithm, decide how much credibility and noise reach their feeds. The site's AI system, VERA, gauges posts, checks claims, shows sources and context, and attaches a trust score; VERA 2.0 is on the near-term roadmap so users can filter to posts above a chosen trust threshold.
